HPMKT Fall Market 2024 in Review

This year at High Point Market, the weather was nothing short of perfect, the blue skies created an inviting atmosphere for designers and trendsetters alike. Principal designer Kate FitzGerald-Wilks dove into a world bursting with inspiration, highlighting a few standout trends that are shaping the future of interior design.

Lighting truly takes center stage at Market this year, captivating all who walk through the spaces. The standout pieces are not just functional; they are stunning works of art that command attention and elevate the entire room. We’re particularly drawn to the large-scale designs that fill a space with both presence and personality, transforming it into something extraordinary. These fixtures serve as conversation starters, creating a unique ambiance that reflects individual style and taste. Whether bold and modern or classic and elegant, the right lighting can redefine a space, making it feel both inviting and impressive.

Among the most striking elements were the stunning stone tables, which showcased the beauty of natural materials and brought an organic touch to modern spaces. These statement pieces set the tone for a Market focused on craftsmanship and authenticity. Curves commanded attention this season, with elegant arched tables and tubular chairs capturing the imagination and inviting a sense of comfort and fluidity in design.

Mid-century modern aesthetics continued to dominate, harmonizing with a carefully curated color palette of cream, black, gold, fern green, and rust. However, Kate noted an intriguing twist: the recurring theme of brown. With a playful yet exasperated observation, she remarked, "Brown, brown, brown - it’s back!" It was a hue that seemed to infiltrate many designs, sparking conversation about the direction of color trends in the industry.

While this Market may not have struck a chord with Kate as her all-time favorite, she found value in the insights gained and the discussions sparked among peers. Looking ahead to Spring 2025, she remains optimistic, confident that the next season will unveil fresh ideas and bold innovations. As she reflects on the trends of Fall 2024, Kate is excited to see how designers will push boundaries and redefine the future of interior spaces.

With big things on the horizon, the interior design community can look forward to an exhilarating journey ahead.
